i'm back from a five week trip to korea - was a great time there!
i found some time to draw new pages (and redraw the first two because i want it to be drawn by hand not digital).
its drawn on 16x25cm, pencil on paper.
i will print them in blue for the inking, but you will see then!

finally and as slow as it gets i managed to finish the very first page of ramyoenboy!

and here comes the sketch/underdrawing. i always try to stay lose and then change things or add details in the inking. when i make the pencils too clean i can't do a lose inking and it all ends up too stiff! i also want to keep it all very simple.

just a little update today...
the 2nd character in the story is a girl. ramyeonboy meets her in a forest when she is fleeing from a gang of evil men. that's how the whole adventure starts...

RAMYEONBOY!

this is the design of ramyeonboy, the main character of the story.
he is a street kid making his little money by selling instant (cup) noodles. he is carrying this biiig backpack in which he has everything he needs to boil the noodles.

let's get started

let me start this with the very first character-idea scribbles and first thoughts of a personal project i've started.

who is ramyeonboy? -the first idea came from my five year old son. we were sitting together eating ramyeon, when he startet to call himself ramyeonboy.
i immediately had the design of this character in my head (which differs from the look of my son). this was about a year ago.

what is ramyeonboy? -it's a comic. or better: it will be a comic book in the near future.
the script is already written. it contains the story for a 46 page book.
one main idea of the whole thing is the storytelling itself. since i am from germany, ramyeon is a korean food and i'm writing here in english.... -i want to create a book which can be read all over the world without a language barrier.
so the story will only be told with pictures. no words.

also the location will not strictly be korea but more some fantasy-environment in a mixture between east and west.

i will write a closer description of the character and his adventure later.
